Interpretation of Tables

Matthew Hurst , scientist with Microsoft recently blogged about the research work I am pursuing for my Ph.D.  Dr. Hurst had worked on interpreting tables from text for his Ph.D. dissertation. With a  reference to our WebScience 2010 paper, (which described our initial work on interpreting tables) Dr. Hurst writes

there is quite a healthy interest in table understanding due in part to the promise of tabular data being a reasonable way to bootstrap semantic relationships via the large scale mining of the web.

It was good to know that our work on interpreting and representing tables as linked data is getting noticed in the Computer Science community.
